Quince is one of my favorite plants. Along with the daffodils, quince is one of the early blooming flowers. I don’t know if it is from Japan but to me it reflects the delicate aesthetic of Japan.

Rainy mornings
These days I am lucky to get in a run in light rain or between spells of rain. This is at about 6:50 AM.

Frost.
Very rainy winter. One unfortunate byproduct. The crows are tearing up my yard to get to worms. They are seriously damaging the yard. If you have not lived in N. California you have no idea how prevalent the crows are. They own the place. Literally. They pre-date us, I feel confident.
At a point in time, there by were 7 crows digging up worms in the yard. I had to take this photo through a window so they would not fly away. They are almost as big as a chicken.
Read about crows. They are smart and cunning. They make tools. They recognize people. In one test, they even recognized people wearing masks.
When you have lived in N. California Hitchcock’s “The Birds” makes more sense.
